Artist You Should Know: Sia

It’s always exciting to discover an artist that you’ve never heard before.  It’s even better when they quickly become one of your favorites of all time.  For me, one of those artists is Sia.
Sia

Sia

Sia (born Sia Furler in Adelaide, Australia) isn’t exactly new.  In fact, when I first started discovering her solo material,  I didn’t even realize that this was the voice I had loved from Zero 7, and their 2001 single “Destiny”.  In addition, Sia is probably most well known for her song “Breathe Me” which was featured prominently in the final episode of HBO’s Six Feet Under.

Her excellent 2008 disc, Some People Have Real Problems, is definitely one of my top 5 CDs of the year so far, and its hidden track “Buttons” is my most played song of all time! (Or actually, my most played song since I bought my iPod 3 years ago!).    Other favorite songs include “Academia” (featuring backing vocals by Beck) and “Electric Bird”.

I could go on describing how good the CD is, or I could just let the music speak for itself, so I think I’ll do the latter, with two videos from Some People…   If you like it as much as I do, then please leave a comment.  I’d love to hear what you think.
